As the first, very cautious step towards re-opening Ballymaloe Cookery School we have created a new Hands-On Course.

Our Hands-On courses have always been very popular because they combine demonstrations and cooking.

The new, ‘Safe’ version is even better because we have included a tour of the farm and gardens (where you can pick some ingredients), morning coffee, demonstration, a practical session in the kitchen and lunch!

Best of all, we have created a range of delicious menus for different days taking into account what is in season.

Also, as Darina, Rachel or Rory will be there on and off through the day, it is a great opportunity to ask them any questions you may have.

What about the safety aspect?

There will only be eight students in each kitchen (about a third of the usual number)! So, socially distancing will be easy.

Of course, we are more than complying with the HSE and Government’s regulations.

If you have any questions, please do let us know.

Your day

9.15:            Welcome coffee and homemade biscuits (in the garden weather permitting)

9.30:           Introduction to the day’s menu and a tour of the farm, gardens and glasshouse during which you will be able to gather fresh vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and maybe eggs (from the Palais des Poulets) to use when you cook later on.

11.00:         Coffee break. More homemade biscuits!

11.20:         Don aprons and into the kitchens where you will have a demonstration and hands-on cooking session.

2.00:           Enjoy Lunch…

3.15:           Depart or enjoy another walk around the gardens.
