Buy Local - Ballymaloe Cookery School
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do and are trying to achieve here at Ballymaloe Cookery School. We are in the fortunate position of being able to grow a substantial proportion of our own food here on our organic farm. In addition, we support as many local growers and market traders as possible, and what we can't source in the immediate vicinity, we purchase from a wider network of Irish producers. As we are an international cookery school, teaching a diverse range of cuisines, we naturally must source ingredients which cannot be grown locally, or indeed in Ireland. To fulfill those requirements, we work with a carefully selected network of international suppliers, always endeavouring to purchase from organic and ethical sources.

Ballymaloe Cookery School is proud to work closely with and support organisations such as Grow It Yourself (GIY) International, Good Food Ireland and the various Irish Food Board initiatives, such as Origin Green. We believe that Irish food businesses, producers and organisations have a responsibility to work together to promote Irish food and encourage as many artisan producers as possible to continue to do what they do. Watch this short video in which Darina speaks about The Irish Food Board's Origin Green Initiative and the importance of sustainable food in Ireland.

We make every effort at Ballymaloe Cookery School, and on our organic farm, to reduce, reuse and recycle. We are committed to dramatically reducing food waste and limiting our carbon footprint through utilising solar energy.
