We were delighted to recently welcome Nicolas Mirouze of Château Beauregard-Mirouze, Corbières, South of France, who gave an inspiring talk and tasting to the students - a wonderful insight to a year’s cycle in the life of an organic vineyard. On their website, they do a ‘photo du jour’ (please see www.beauregard-mirouze.com ), so we all featured in a winemaker selfie with Nicolas for that day!

Nicolas introduced the following wines, and we do hope he will be back soon again to us.

Beauregard-Mirouze Grangeot Blanc 2013

80% Viognier, 10% Marsanne, 10% Vermentino

Certified Organic by AB – Vin de France

This estate has vineyards on the cool-nay cold, north-facing part of the Massif de Frontfroide in Corbières and the Grangeot cuvée takes it name from the vineyards around an old stone-built grain store in the small, cold Combarelles valley which is at the entrance of the Massif Fontfroide. The soils here are a thick layer of sandy, free-draining sandstone. Serve with seafood salad, especially clams or prawns.

Beauregard-Mirouze Grangeot Rouge 2013

60% Cabernet sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 20% Syrah

Certified Organic by AB - Vin de France

‘This is the partner to the above white, from a Corbières estate owned by Karine and Nicholas Mirouze. The cold, dry climate and friable soils means that the vines roots must dive deep to find sustenance

Beauregard-Mirouze Tradition Rouge 2012

’50% Syrah, 50% Grenache deeply rooted on free draining ferruginous sandstone soils in the heart of the Corbières garrigue. Organic methods, old-ish vines (the oldest are Syrah and are over 40 years old) and low yields.  John Wilson, Irish Times 31/01/15 Bottle of the Week
