Rory O'Connell's first ever TV series 'How To Cook Well', based on his critically acclaimed cookbook 'Master It' airs on RTE 1 on Wednesday 18th March at 7:30pm GMT

Mirroring the layout of 'Master It' (which was the 2013 winner of the Andre Simon book award), what sets this eight-part TV series apart from countless other cooking programmes being aired today is that it focuses on teaching a range of essential techniques which any home cook or aspiring chef should be able to confidently execute. Rory's approach to cooking is simple and sincere - use the best ingredients you can source and afford, arm yourself with the right equipment and follow the recipe.

Students of the Ballymaloe 12 Week course who have studied under Rory O'Connell can attest to his excellence as a teacher. It's something he is passionate about and has been committed to ever since co-founding Ballymaloe Cookery School with Darina in 1983. Rory's demonstrations are fast-paced, filled with humour and, most importantly, leave an indelible imprint on his students, many of whom are eagerly awaiting this TV series!

The menu for Rory's first show will be:

  • Salad of Hard-Boiled Eggs with Mayonnaise, Harissa and Chorizo
  • Grilled Pork Chops and Pork Burgers with Fennel and Pistachio
  • Plum & Apple Sauce
  • Swede Turnip Puree with Parmesan and Olive Oil
  • Raspberry Fool with Vanilla Biscuits

Tune into RTE1 at 7:30pm Wednesday 18th March!

How to Cook Well With Rory O'Connell is produced and directed by David Hare of InproductionTV for RTÉ and is sponsored by Bord Bia
